USA Network’s critically acclaimed drama SUITS will return for the back half of Season 6 on Wednesday, January 25 at 10/9c. Season 6 of the Universal Cable Productions series is the #1 scripted cable program of 2016 in its timeslot in all key demos. To date, SUITS’ sixth season is averaging 3.5MM total viewers in Live+7 data and garnering an additional 6.2MM streams across VOD and digital platforms. The network previously announced that the legal drama will return for Season 7, set to air in 2017.

Season 6 returns with six new episodes, picking up immediately after the midseason cliffhanger that left Pearson Specter Litt in the hands of managing partners Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman). The pair is forced to put aside their professional ambitions and personal animosities in an effort to come together to keep their struggling firm afloat after the departure of Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres). Now more than ever, they will rely on the wit and intuition of Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty) and Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle), their most trusted advisors, to keep them on track. Finally reunited with Rachel, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams) re-adjusts to life outside of prison and navigates the reality that he is no longer a lawyer. Meanwhile, love is in the air following Louis’ proposal to his pregnant girlfriend, Tara (Carly Pope).

Vote for “Suits” as Best Cable TV Drama

USA Network is keeping Suits tied up.

The NBCUniversal-owned cable network has renewed the Aaron Korsh drama for a seventh season, execs announced Wednesday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.

The news comes after the Patrick J. Adams starrer is only three episodes into its sixth season and as the series from Universal Cable Productions is averaging 3 million total viewers and 1.1 million viewers among adults 18-39 when factoring in three days of delayed viewing.

Suits ranks as USA Network’s longest-running drama and its only remaining series left over from its former “Blue Skies” brand. The cabler, with last year’s launch of Emmy-nominated drama Mr. Robot, has abandoned that brand in favor of darker and edgier drama fare. That also includes Queen of the South — with a verdict on season two yet to be determined — as well as forthcoming dramas Eyewitness and Falling Water. Premiere dates for both Eyewitness (Sunday, Oct. 16, at 10 p.m. ET/PT) and Falling Water (Thursday, Oct. 13, at 10 p.m.) were also announced Wednesday.

For USA, the decision to give a Sunday slot to Eyewitness — a crime thriller starring Julianne Nicholson based on a Norwegian drama — marks the cabler’s second original to air on what has become the new prime viewing night of the week. USA previously aired drama Motive there and, most recently, has found success with repeats of Law & Order: SVU in the slot. (Meanwhile, premium cable network Starz also recently shifted its originals from Saturdays to Sundays in a bid to be part of the critical watercooler conversation.)

The renewal for Suits comes as USA Network recently announced that its planned July bow for Shooter would be delayed until the fall out of respect to the victims of a wave of shootings across the country.
